Downing Fruit Farm
You can find Downing Fruit Farm set in thebeautiful rolling hills of Darke County in New Madison, Ohio. Scott Dowling is the 7th generation of his family to farm this land. In 1838, the first generation choose this location for the rolling terrain which, if planted correctly, could protect the fruit trees from the winds and cold pockets. Today, 70% of the Downing’s sales are from apples and apple products, like cider, that was once voted Best Cider in the country. They have even developed several new varieties of apples. They market at Miamisburg, Centerville and Oxford and sell to several institutions in the area, on top of producing for Ohio Valley Food Connection and its customers.
